Amazon has more fulfillment centers in this state than others…

Amazon will add a tenth fulfillment center in California, making the Sacramento facility the fourth California fulfillment center Amazon has announced in the past four months and the 13th new US warehouse announced this year.

Amazon will use the 855,000-plus-square-foot warehouse to pick, pack, and ship smaller customer items, such as books, electronics and toys, and the company expects to create over 1,000 full time jobs as a result of the new facility.

In addition to the recently announced fulfillment centers in north Sacramento, Tracy and Eastvale, Amazon currently fulfills customer orders at its seven facilities in California in Moreno Valley, Patterson, Redlands, Rialto, San Bernardino and Tracy. The company also operates sortation centers (“sort centers”) in Newark and San Bernardino.

Amazon Vice President of North American Operations Akash Chauhan said in the announcement made on Friday, “Our ongoing expansion in California, which started just four short years ago, is the result of two things: incredible customers and an outstanding workforce in this state. Customers are seeing on a regular basis Amazon’s customer obsession, innovative culture, and operational excellence – all of which is driven by the 14,000-plus Californians who work in Amazon fulfillment centers across the state. We are incredibly proud of what has been accomplished in California.”

Amazon also announced plans this year for new Fulfillment Centers in Kansas (2), Texas, New Jersey (2), Illinois (3), and Georgia.
